Photograph of a tooth replica on the cover of roots magazine

One of the most interesting parts of my job at Dental Tribune is editing our endodontic magazine, called “roots.” The cover of the latest issue of roots features a photograph of a “TrueTooth” tooth replica, which is now used for training of endodontists, also known as root canal specialists.

The TrueTooth replicas are the invention of Dr. L. Stephen Buchanan of California, who is a brilliant dentist, lecturer and inventor. I interviewed Dr. Buchanan about his new tooth replicas and how they are used for endodontic education. If you have ever had a root canal, it’s the pulp chamber (or roots) that the dentist cleans out and fills. The more complex the canals, the more difficult the treatment — which is why it’s a good idea to go to a specialist if you ever need a root canal!

You can see the cover of roots and inside pages directly below. Click on the images to make them bigger. You can also read an online version of my interview with Dr. Buchanan by clicking here.
